
He Department of Agriculture (USDA) informed states on Friday that it is working to comply with a federal judge’s order provide the full benefits of the program Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to approximately 42 million Americans through Novemberaccording to an agency official.
Patrick Penn, deputy assistant secretary of Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, said in a new guide directed to state agencies that the USDA is “working to implement full delivery of benefits through November 2025,” in compliance with the order issued Thursday by District Judge John McConnell.
Penn stated in the guide that “later that same day,” The Trump administration “will complete the necessary processes to make funds available” for fully cover the November benefits of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
The notification was released after the Justice Department appealed a judge’s order requiring the government to provide full assistance to Americans who use the allocated funds to buy food.
The Justice Department also petitioned the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. block the order and asked for a decision on his request for emergency injunctive measures by 4 p.m.
