They rescue four hikers disoriented by hallucinogenic fungi in mountains of New York



Four hikers were rescued in the Catskill mountains of New York After disorienting after consuming hallucinogenic fungithe authorities reported. The group, composed of men between 20 and 30, deviated from the path and called 911 on August 29, when one of them was unable to move.

The rangers and the Pine Hill fire department located the young people around 6:45 pm, less than 300 meters from the marked path, in an steep and dangerous area, according to the New York Times.

Mountain hallucinations

According to Russell Martin rangers, One of the hikers was in fetal position without being able to communicate, while another hallucinated with a “non -existent bridge”. “When people drugs like this in a treacherous terrain, they lose the ability to make good decisions,” he warned.

Psilocybin fungi, also called “magical fungi,” are illegal in New York and can cause intense hallucinations, disorientation and humor changes.

Once guided to the beginning of the path, The hikers were evaluated, although none required hospitalization. However, they had lost their car’s keys during the walk. The next day, a ranger returned to the area and found them under a trunk among the ferns.

This is not the first incident of this type in New York. In May, two hikers in the adirondacks falsely alerted the authorities about the death of a partner after consuming hallucinogenic fungi. The deceased assumption appeared healthy and except shortly after, and the three were escorted out of the mountain.
