In the heart of Alabamaa forgotten warehouse became a true automotive treasure. Its owner, Greg Rusk, is no ordinary collector. Unlike billionaires who acquire Ferraris, Lamborghinis or Porsches limited edition, Rusk gathered more than 1,300 vehicles of all types: trucks, sedans, vintage cars and some modest classics.

What was born as a gesture of empathy ended up becoming one of the largest and most peculiar collections of cars in the country.
The story behind “La Generosa”
The collection, baptized “La Generosa”, did not arise from a passion for motorsports, but from a deep sense of help. In his hometown, Rusk is a recognized figure not only for his company, but for his commitment to the community. Many people came to him looking for financial support to resolve emergencies, pay for medical treatments or cover urgent expenses.
The way Rusk found to help was simple: he bought their cars. He did not do it out of personal interest, nor to resell them, but to provide an immediate solution to those who needed it. Over time, these vehicles accumulated in a warehouse at his company until there were more than 1,300 cars, although not even Rusk himself has an exact number.
“For me, it was never a collection”the businessman has acknowledged. “I just wanted to help the people in my community”he added.
None of the cars were driven by him. He simply bought them, put them away, and went on with his life. That generosity—literally materialized in cars—gave its name to the collection that is now preparing to be auctioned.
From the cellar to the hammer: an unprecedented auction
The renowned Broad Arrow Auctions will be in charge of putting this gigantic fleet of vehicles up for sale. The auction has been officially titled “The Generous Collection,” in honor of the story behind its creation.
The event will take place in several phases, starting with a first batch of 236 cars of different models and conditions. The auctions will be individual, which means that interested parties will be able to purchase specific vehicles at widely varying prices. Some could be sold for symbolic sums, while others, due to their rarity or state of preservation, could reach higher figures.

The most interesting thing is that this is not an exclusive auction for millionaire collectors. On the contrary, many of the cars are in modest condition or are common models, opening up the possibility of finding real opportunities for those looking to restore, resell or simply preserve a piece with history.
Hidden treasures among everyday cars
Although most of the vehicles are for everyday use, the collection also houses jewels that attract the attention of fans. Among the most notable is a Jaguar XK120considered one of the most elegant British sports cars of its time and possibly the most coveted example of the set.
Also appearing are two second-generation Mazda RX-7s, a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 and several Firebirds from different years.s. Other models with classic charm include a 1960 Rambler Metropolitan convertible and a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500, both highly prized by restorers.
The auction house has reported that the vehicles will be available both in person and online, with the possibility of bidding from anywhere in the world. In total, the initial batches are expected to exceed 200 cars per day, making this event one of the most extensive and unique of the year.
A legacy of empathy and engines
What makes “La Generosa” special is not the models themselves, but the history they represent. Each vehicle was part of a chain of help. Instead of accumulating wealth, Rusk accumulated gestures of solidarity, transforming his garage into a symbol of empathy toward his community.
The auction will not only allow the cars to find new owners, but will also close a circle in the life of Greg Rusk. Many Alabamians remember with gratitude the times when the businessman extended a hand without asking for anything in return.
Today, his legacy continues, but in a different way: each vehicle that goes on sale will tell the story of those who needed it and those who decided to help it.
