Taylor Swift continues to break records in the music industry. His most recent hit, ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, is dominating the Billboard Hot 100 for the tenth consecutive weekbecoming the first single of his career to hold the top spot for a double-digit period.
The song, from her album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, which in turn has spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, is achieving a double phenomenon. The album becomes the fifth in history to lead the Billboard 200 for 10 or more weeks, mwhile generating a single that also topped the Hot 100 for at least that same time, according to what was revealed on Billboard’s website.
The reign on the list
Between December 26 and January 1, ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ recorded 18.4 million official streams (an increase of 1%) and 62.1 million radio audience impressions (up 2%).
Although sales experienced a 63% drop, with 11,000 copies, the song remained the best-selling song of the week, also leading the Digital Song Sales chart for the seventh week.
This milestone extends Swift’s dominance into the decade: Now has eight number ones on the Hot 100 during the 2020s, accumulating 28 weeks at the top, the most of any artist this decade.
In total, her 13 number one singles tie her for fourth all-time, and her 46 total weeks at the top tie her with Beyoncé for seventh all-time.
While Swift consolidates her reign, Djo —the musical project of actor Joe Keery (Stranger Things)— achieves its first top 10 on the Hot 100. Their song ‘End of Beginning’ jumps from number 16 to number 6, boosted in part by the recent finale of the popular Netflix series.
