
Forbes magazine published the list of “The most powerful women in the world” of this 2025 where the names of 100 women, mostly Americans. In relation to women from Latin America, there are only four, the president of Mexico, two Mexican executives, and the president of a bank in Brazil.
Women from the United States, Germany, France, Japan, Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, China, and more are part of a list that according to Forbes are considered the most powerful women in the world in 2025. Among that list, There are three Mexican women, being the president Claudia Sheinbaum, one of them sneaking into place number five.
First president of Mexico
Forbes says Sheinbaum, 63, “made history by being elected the first female president of Mexico.” in a landslide victory in June 2024. Her swearing-in in October was greeted with cheers from President,” the description reads.
He then gives a brief summary of his life story and his role in Mexican politics, emphasizing that “one of his achievements was the introduction of a new cablebus system “which improved transportation throughout the city.”
The appointment of the Mexican president is accompanied by the insecurity that is lived in the country, in addition to occupying the third place in the world for crime, according to Global Organized Crime Index 2025.
Two Mexicans on the list
The two Mexican women who occupy a place on the list are Paula Santilli, executive director of PepsiCo Latin America, who are in the place 72.
“He leads the company’s food and beverage businesses for Mexico, South America, Central America and the Caribbean, a business segment that has 80,000 employees in its ranks,” Forbes described.
Blanca Treviño, co-founder, president and CEO of Softtek is in the place 86.
“Treviño, who led Softtek as its CEO for 25 years, helped pioneer the concept of nearshoring, positioning Mexico as an alternative for American companies seeking international technology services,” the magazine detailed in its description.
“Forbes’ 22nd Annual List of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women was determined based on four main metrics: money, media, impact and spheres of influence. For political leaders, we consider the gross domestic product and population; For corporate directors, revenue, valuations and employee numbers were crucial. The media mentions of all of them were analyzed,” Forbes published.
