A chaos is lived in the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC, for acronym in English) for the departure of the director, Susan Monaz.
While President Donald Trump’s government states that he was fired, Monarch’s lawyers claim no. She made a renunciation letter public.
“Our client was notified tonight by the staff of the White House personnel of her dismissal. As a official appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate, only the president can fire her,” lawyer Mark Zaid wrote around midnight on Wednesday.
This Thursday, the White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, declared that it was President Trump who fired Monaz as director of the CDC, after she rejected the request for resignation of the Secretary of Health, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“It was President Trump, who was re -elected by overwhelming majority on November 5; this woman has never had the right to vote in her life, and the president has the authority to fire those who are not aligned with her mission,” Leavitt said.
Last night, the White House issued a statement last night informing that Monaz had been fired from his position after refusing to resign under pressure.
Leavitt confirmed the pressure towards the former official and added that he will soon be appointed to his replacement.
“[Ella] It was not aligned with the mission of the president to recover the health of the United States. The secretary asked him to resign. She said she would do it and then said no. So the president dismissed her, and has every right to do it, ”Leavitt insisted.
And what does Kennedy Jr. say?
In an event in Texas, the Secretary of Health said that he had to make changes to the CDC, despite the fact that the director was appointed by President Trump.
“There are many problems in CDCs and it will be necessary to get rid of some people in the long term to change institutional culture,” he said.
