Five days ago, Mexicans on both sides of the border heard the following exhortation in English: “…And from the Congress of Mexico City [hago] a call to the international community, the European Parliament and the United States Congress to raise their voices about what is happening in Mexico. Unfortunately, [Andrés Manuel] López Obrador left a narco-state and there are many Mexicans who demand help.”
The person who issued this call for US military intervention in Mexico with the assistance and support of the international community and European nations is Raúl de Jesús Torres Guerrero, a young local deputy migrant from Mexico City and a member of the National Action Party (PAN). He is around 35 years old and when he was around five years old, his father (of Peruvian origin) and his mother (of Mexican origin) emigrated to the American Union, where he received political and academic training.
The fact that a local deputy calls for a foreign military intervention is politically very serious because it violates all standards of conduct and professional ethics as befits a public servant. Ask the United States to invade our homeland again, ignoring all previous military interventions by Spanish, English, French and American armies, who 177 years ago took more than half of our national territory from us. It is a wound that does not heal.
I repeat, this behavior is not only dangerous because it is done at a time when President Trump insists on taking warlike actions against Mexico, arguing that they would be to bring down the organized crime cartels that operate in the country and that his administration has classified as terrorists to justify that an invasion of the national territory could be carried out at any moment.
In any part of the world, attacking the independence, sovereignty, justice, democracy and freedom of a country, as Congressman Raúl Torres does with respect to Mexico, constitutes high treason. This was the case when Napoleonic France imposed Maximilian of Hamburg as emperor, with the approval of Mexican conservatives. The local migrant deputy must be reminded that the Magna Carta specifies that treason is punishable by up to 40 years in prison since this crime is one of the most serious crimes against national security.
Furthermore, it is inadmissible that the PAN member has taken advantage of the highest legislative forum of the Legislative Branch of the Mexican capital to make irresponsible lapidary judgments against who in my opinion is the best President of the Republic of contemporary Mexico, Mr. Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO). His assertion that the former president bequeathed us Mexicans a “narco-state” is condemnable as dishonest. Furthermore, he irresponsibly attacks President Claudia Sheinbaum, who currently has over 70% approval among Mexicans.
It is a shame for Mexicans, but especially for those of us who live and work in the United States, to have popular representatives with the cynicism that characterizes the PAN members, who, due to their corruption and clear denationalized orientation, have been the cause – to a large extent – of national bankruptcy, due to their association with organized crime, with drug barons, with national and transnational capital to loot the country, due to their unlimited corruption, due to their racism and classism. The Fox and Calderón governments stripped the people of the rights and satisfactions that they deserved in strict justice.
Therefore, it is not surprising that in Mexico there are individuals with such a magnitude of cynicism that they deceive themselves, such as the local migrant deputy Torres Guerrero, whose surrenderist policy is condemned by a patriotic, nationalist Mexican people, who have suffered firsthand the consequences of the invasions suffered by the nation.
It should be noted that Mexico is the most invaded country in the world and to give us a precise overview of what these foreign incursions on homeland have meant, we must visit the Museum of Interventions in Mexico City. Mexican conservatives have always welcomed foreign invaders who violate the people and national soil and defile the tricolor flag. That PAN representative of yore would be delighted if the Stars and Stripes banner flew from the monumental flagpole of the Zócalo of the Mexican capital.
Furthermore, this unpatriotic event occurs within the framework of a conservative barrage, by PRI and PAN members against the government of the Fourth Transformation. Thus we have the so-called march of Generation Z, the demonstrations of rural producers and transporters, which occur one after another. They are expressions that transcend the limits of freedom of expression and are part of violence, provocation, serious effects on citizens and the economy. With these actions that are part of what theorists consider an attempted soft coup, with a view to destabilizing and removing Morena and its allies from power, but they will not succeed because the Party has the vast majority of the conscious Mexican people on its side.
For this reason, among Mexican citizens residing abroad, we have begun collecting signatures demanding that the Congress of Mexico City undertake a political trial to remove from office this migrant legislator whom we consider a traitor to the country. Faced with the threat against Mexico of a far-right like Trump and his conservative Mexican allies, the PRI and the PAN, Mexican progressives inside and outside the national territory, we must close ranks and reject the enemies of our country, our people and our principles emanating from the best of the struggles of our heroes, contained in the Fourth Transformation.
Let it be clear: the Mexicans who reside in the US are with Mexico, with its people and with the Fourth Transformation. It must also be admitted that among the migrants there are a handful of conservatives with PAN and PRI DNA who have already been devoured by history.
Mexican migrants are a fundamental asset of the government of the Republic and our people. That is why we want to be better listened to and taken into account because we have a lot to contribute in these difficult hours and at all times. Count on us. A hug from countryman to countrymen and women.
