Hispanic woman in wheelchair dies in ‘hit and run’ accident in Orange



A Hispanic woman in a wheelchair died after being run over by a driver who fled the night of January 9 in the city of Santa Anain Orange County.

This Monday, Sergeant Gerard McCann, of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, identified the woman as Sabrina Michelle Durán, 55 years old.

In a statement on social networksthe Santa Ana Police Department reported that the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 600 block of North Grand Avenuewhere the officers went after receiving reports of the accident.

When they arrived at the scene, police officers and Orange County Pump Authority personnel found the Hispanic woman in a wheelchair, who was lying on the road with significant injuries.

Sabrina Michelle Durán was urgently transferred to a local hospital for medical attention, but later died.

According to Santa Ana police, the Hispanic woman in a wheelchair was crossing Grand Avenue heading west at the time she was hit by a car traveling north.
