The Haaretz newspaper said on Sunday that the Israeli Foreign Ministry will finance a tour of Israel for American social media influential people belonging to my campaign “to make America great again” (Maga) And “America first”, the two governorates, who represent a large part of the president’s electoral base Donald Trump.
The newspaper stated that this initiative will bring together 16 American influences under the age of thirty, for each of them between hundreds of thousands and millions of followers, to confront what the ministry sees as a decline in the feelings supporting Israel among American youth.
The initiative also aims to strengthen the image of Israel among conservative American youth by encouraging influencers to spread messages in line with the policy of the Israeli government.
Foreign Ministry officials stated that this tour would achieve great media and diplomatic benefits, and represent a “strategic shift”, as traditional communication is no longer sufficient to form public opinion, aiming to take advantage of the huge number of followers of these young influencers on communication sites to enhance Israel’s position in the United States.
A source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the newspaper that the initiative reflects a broader shift in Israeli public diplomacy, adding, “We are working with influencers, and sometimes with delegations of them … their networks have many followers, and their messages are more effective than if they were issued directly from the ministry.”
The newspaper pointed out that this communication strategy seems to be fruitful, within The 12 -day war with Iran last monthIsraeli digital messages won nearly 1.8 billion views online, partly due to the role of influencers on social media.
She said that the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs set a target of hosting 550 delegations of influencers to Israel by the end of 2025 to continue this performance and the level of influence.
