NEW YORK.- With a minimum hearing in the United Nations main hall, Israel Prime Minister Benjamín Netanyahu offers speech as part of the debate of the General Assembly, where he defends his military escalation in Gaza and said that even the United States would do the same.
“Let me tell you something: in no way the United States would allow this terror machinery to continue operating, nor that a barbarism thus threatened America,” he said. “That is precisely what Israel is doing in Gaza. We are eradicating Hamas’s terrorist regime and guaranteeing that this barbarism never threatens Israel again. That is what we are doing.”
Some of the few members of the UN who stayed applauded parts of Netanyahu’s speech, who asked to remember October 7, as the reason why he maintains his military escalation in Gaza, where more than 60,000 people have died, including more than 20,000 children.
The Israeli president began his speech congratulating himself by military action against Iran for the alleged development of nuclear weapons and the participation of the government of President Donald Trump in the actions.
“This 12 -day war will go to military history. Our pilots neutralized the antimile defenses of Iran and took control of airspace over Tehran. And you witnessed it. Israeli and American combat pilots bombarded Iranian enrichment facilities of Uranium,” said Netanyahu. “I want to thank President Trump for his brave and decisive action. President Trump and I promised to prevent them from developing nuclear weapons, and we fulfill that promise.”
After that first part of the message there were some applause.
“We eliminate an existential threat to Israel and a deadly threat to the civilized world,” he said. “We cleared a dark cloud that could have gained millions of lives.”
