Washington open to “direct” conversations with Tehran

The Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, said Thursday that Washington is looking for direct conversations with Iran to end its NUCL programEAR after the European powers decided to activate the mechanism that allows the UN to restore the UN sanctions against Tehran.

Rubio celebrated the “immediate restoration” of sanctions by the Europeans, promoted for a long time by President Donald Trumpbut added: “At the same time, the United States is still available for a direct commitment to Iran, in pursuit of a peaceful and lasting resolution of the nuclear problem with Iran.”

“Reimposition (of sanctions) does not contradict our sincere disposition to diplomacy, it only reinforces it,” Rubio said in a statement.
