A rare escape to a cabin in the River Gorge Network area, in the southeast of Kentuckyended when Two women of about 80 years were trapped in a jacuzzi and could not go out for themselves.

When the rescuers of WSCART and the Wolfe County Sheriff’s Office arrived, the Cabaña caregivers had already managed to get the victims from the jacuzzi.
One of them was unconscious and critical.
The other partially responded, although it presented clear signs of exhaustion due to overheating.
The rescue teams acted rapidly: the most serious woman was transferred to a shower, where they applied cold water and ice, while the second was refreshing abroad with a hose and more frozen compresses.
After 20 to 30 minutes of intensive cooling, both began to show signs of recovery. Subsequently, they were transferred to a local hospital.

Although the women managed to survive, the episode left an important teaching. The rescue team recalled that the recommended time in a jacuzzi is between 15 and 30 minutes and stressed the need for people with medical conditions or reduced mobility to take precautions.
“Be sure to get out of jacuzzi once inside, especially if you have any disability,” Wscart warned. “Hyperthermia and insolation can be fatal, and this story could have ended very different without the rapid reaction of all involved.”
