John Martin, 46, was finally arrested this week for opening fire on July 17 against Hispanics Emmanuel Menchaca and his 12 -year -old brotherat the time when They buried his pet in the courtyard of his house, in southeastern Houston.
According to judicial documents, Martin shot at the minors, leaving Emmanuel with serious injuries. The teenager was shot at the back that caused damage to the lung, liver and diaphragm. He was 17 days in intensive care and although he was discharged, doctors estimate that his recovery could take between 6 and 8 months.
Martin was captured after an intense search and faces two positions of aggravated aggression with a mortal weapon. The bond was set at $ 200,000, that is, $ 100,000 for each charge.
The records show that the suspect has a criminal record since 2003, including possession of marijuana and evasion of arrest.
The impact on the family
Emmanuel’s mother told Telemundo that these months have been a “nightmare”, marked by the physical and emotional pain left by the attack. Although they returned to their home on Belgard Street, the family ensures that fear persists.
“I am always worried about whether or not he is there,” said Emmanuel, still affected by the experience.
