The Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelenski, announced Monday that there will be contacts with Washington’s envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kelloggalready end of this week a meeting between delegations of Ukraine and the US will take place to address the situation in the face of possible peace conversations with Russia.
The objective is to “develop preparations for the possibility of a future encounter with the Russian part,” Zelenski said at a press conference in kyiv with Norwegian prime minister Jonas Gahr Store.
In the appearance, The Ukrainian President recalled the contacts that his government has maintained in recent days with his alliesafter the summit in which he participated in Washington a week ago with US President Donald Trump and several European and NATO leaders.
Throughout this week, there will be “a basic plan on security guarantees” that Ukraine will receive from its allies in the case of a peace agreement with Russia, although the details “still need time,” he said.
“After that, I would like to understand, of the American part, if the Russians are ready (for a meeting) and in what configuration. If the Russians are willing for the configuration proposed in the United States and was supported by Ukraine in the presence of European leaders: a bilateral meeting and then another trilateral, ”he said, in reference to a meeting with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
