Texas Senate approves new electoral map that favors Republicans

With a vote of 18 in favor and 11 against, the Texas Senate approved a new electoral map that benefits the Republicans.

Now only the signing of Governor Gregory Wayne Abbott is required to make it law before the intermediate elections of 2026.

Through a message posted on the X platform, previously known as Twitter, the state president praised the support of his party co -religionists to boost the initiative.

“The great and beautiful map has been approved by the Senate. Despite the small maneuvers of the Democrats, we fulfill our promise. This map reflects the real electoral preferences of the Texans, and I hope to promulgate it,” he wrote.

This way, most likely the new district lines will add up to five additional seats in the House of Representatives for the conservatives.

Through a statement, Democrat Suzan Delbene, Democratic representative for Washington, anticipated that her party will present an appeal with the aim of reversing the new electoral map.

“Texas Democratic Legislators applaud who have been at the forefront of this fight and inspired people from all over the country to get up and fight against the shameful attempt of Republicans to hold on to power.

Today is not the last word about this manipulated map, and the struggle to preserve an equal and fair representation for all in Texas must continue in court, ”he emphasized.
