In one of his most recent publications, Guardia expressed the pain that endures: “Julián, today is the 9th and I miss you with all my soul… never, not even in the worst of my nightmares, did I imagine that heaven would call you first.”

Julian Figueroa died on April 9, 2023, aged 27, due to an acute myocardial infarction and ventricular fibrillation, according to the medical report confirmed by his mother in Mexico City.

About the custody of his grandson

However, in the midst of this duel, Guardia faced a major scandal and legal controversy with his grandson’s mother, Imelda Tuñón, over custody of the child.

Maribel Guardia explained, through a video on her social networks, that she began the process motivated by a “moral duty.” “I have felt the moral duty to file a complaint against the mother of my grandson, with the sole desire to defend her integrity.”he stated.

The authorities decided to temporarily grant custody to Guardia, after receiving complaints that included allegations of neglect and substance use.

The actress was emphatic in pointing out that her priority is “to guarantee the safety of her grandson.” He insisted that his action does not seek to damage Tuñón’s image or make public issues private, but only to protect the child and for the institutions to make the most appropriate determination for his well-being.

In the latest statements, Imelda Tuñón has stated that little José Julián does not want to know anything about his grandmother and an audio was even leaked in which He said that “she was bad and cruel.”

Tuñón assured that will proceed legally against those who leaked the audio. On his Instagram account he indicated: “I am going to proceed legally against the person who provided the audio material where my son’s voice is heard, as well as against the media that share it, since, at this time, it is legally protected.”
