Trump plans to expand his travel ban to more than 30 countries with “unstable governments”

The anti-immigrant policy promoted by President Donald Trump could reach more than 30 countries whose citizens would be prohibited from traveling to the United States.

During an interview with the television network FoxNews, Kristi Lynn Arnold Noem, Secretary of Homeland Securitymentioned that the head of the nation is analyzing extending the prohibition of entering the United States territory to people from nations with unstable governments.

“I’m not going to be specific about the number, but there are more than 30, and the president continues to evaluate countries. Listen, if they don’t have a stable government there, if they don’t have a country that can stand up and tell us who those individuals are and help us investigate them, why should we allow people from that country to come here to the United States?

Since the incident in which an Afghan shot two members of the National Guard in Washington at the end of last month, causing the death of 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom, Trump’s discomfort turned to refugees from countries historically hostile to the United States.

In this regard, the 79-year-old Republican promised to “permanently suspend migration from all third world countries.”

Therefore, the countries restricted by Trump were: Afghanistan, Burundi, Chad, Cuba, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela and Yemen.

In addition to this prohibition, the US president intends to deport thousands of refugees whose access to the country was allowed by the administration headed by Joe Biden.which it considers a serious risk to national security.

“I must act to protect the national security and national interests of the United States and its people. I do not want you in our country, I will be honest with you,” he stated a few days ago during a cabinet meeting.

At the local level, another of the adjustments ordered consisted of cutting the duration of the work permit provided to refugees, which went from five years to only 18 months, a complex situation that may force many to leave the United States of their own volition as they do not have the necessary resources to cover their expenses.
