Raúl Jiménez will assume responsibility for Fulham’s forward line after the injury of Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz.
Muniz, who was used to being the English club’s starting forward, suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out until mid-February, according to Marco Silva, Fulham coach.
“It is sad news for us and Rodrigo. He is a player who has great goals for the season to improve his numbers. It is always difficult when you see that he has recovered from an injury and face a new one that forces him to undergo surgery to recover. Mid-February could be a good time for him to return,” Silva said this Friday.
Muniz’s loss is added to Antonee Robinson, who will also not be able to be with the team for the resumption of the Premier League after the FIFA date.
Jiménez will be in charge of the Fulham attack that will seek a victory at home against Sunderland, one of the surprises at the beginning of the season.
“Robinson will also be out for the next game, but Raúl Jiménez trained with the team this morning and is ready to play,” Silva highlighted.
Fulham needs Raúl Jiménez’s goals to get out of relegation
Fulham is desperate for good results after having four defeats in the last five Premier League games.
Marco Silva’s club is in 15th place in the table with 11 points after 11 games with only 1 point above relegation.
But the calendar does not hold any easy matches for them with duels against Sunderland, Tottenham, Manchester City and Crystal Palace in the next four dates.
Raúl Jiménez will need to increase his scoring quota after adding only one goal and one assist so far this season.
In the first 11 games, the Mexican forward has started six games and has not scored since September 28 against Aston Villa.
