From her morning conference at the National Palace, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, stated that no military intervention by the United States will occur in Mexico to combat drug trafficking cartels.
“It is not going to happen, in fact later there was a clarification, I have mentioned it many times, in the talks I have had with President Trump On telephone calls he has suggested on several occasions or said ‘we offer you a military intervention by the United States in Mexico or whatever you need to combat criminal groups’, but I have told him on all occasions that we can collaborate, they can help us with information that they have but we operate in our territory, that we do not accept intervention from any foreign government”, he stated.
The Mexican president’s statements come after US President Donald Trump stated that he would be willing to send troops to combat Mexican drug traffickers.
“I have said it on the phone (to Donald Trump), we have said it with the State Department, with Marco Rubio, and they have understood, so much so that The understanding we have with them is one of collaboration and coordination and the first points are very clear, respect for sovereignty, respect for our territoriality, and that there must be collaboration and coordination without subordination.that has been very clear,” Sheinbaum reiterated.
