
US forces attack another suspected drug trafficking ship in the Caribbeankilling three people, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said, raising the death toll from the Trump administration’s controversial campaign to 69.
The United States began to carry out this type of attacks, which some experts consider extrajudicial executions even if they target known traffickerss, in early September, targeting vessels in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the attack through his Truth Social account and claimed that the boat was trafficking “narcotics in the Caribbean.”
There were three people on board who were “eliminated,” according to the secretary, who added a warning “if they continue trafficking drugs, we will kill them.”
Hegseth accompanied his publication with a video of the attack on the boat, he also highlighted that was ordered by the president, Donald Trumpas he has mentioned in all the past attacks.
With this new attack, there are more than 20 boats destroyed and at least 69 people murdered, supposedly associated with organized crime but without knowing details about their identity.
This new scene comes two days after Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reported behind closed doors to a group of senior members of Congress.
On Tuesday, the White House refuted accusations of a lack of transparency before Congress regarding the attacks and military deployment in the region. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declared that the meeting is a clear example of cooperation and that this appearance marks the ninth briefing held.
