British man convicted of raping influencers after deceiving them with teeth whitening

A UK man who sexually assaulted several women after luring them to his teeth whitening salon with the promise of free services will spend decades in prison.

Ricky Stubberfield31, was sentenced to 26 years in prison, followed by six years of probation, according to a statement from Devon and Cornwall Police. He will also be registered as a sex offender.

Stubberfield was found guilty in June of 23 offences, including rape, sexual assault, indecent exposure and creating an indecent image of a minor. Authorities indicated that the charges were related to eight female victimswho at that time were between 16 and 27 years old.

Police said many of Stubberfield’s victims were “popular young women” to whom he sent messages on Instagram to offer “free treatments” in exchange for promoting their teeth whitening business in Plymouth, United Kingdom, on their platforms, according to the statement.

Between 2022 and 2024, he abused five women, all in their 20s, at the teeth whitening and tanning salon, police stated. “Four victims were sexually touched while receiving teeth whitening treatments, three of them because of their offers on social networks. They also exposed themselves to a fifth victim.”

“Once in the treatment chair with a mouthguard on, he took advantage and sexually assaulted them, asked for photos and made repeated forced sexual advances,” the police added.

Police began investigating Stubberfield in February 2022 when A 16-year-old girl reported that Stubberfield had sexually assaulted her on two occasions that month, according to the statement.

The victim stated that the sexual assaults occurred during a concert—once in a bathroom and once in Stubberfield’s van—and later at a house.

Police claimed some of the crimes were recorded during a FaceTime call to Stubberfield’s friend, after he “brazenly pulled her out of sight to sexually assault her and forced her to commit a sexual act on him.”

As the investigation continued, police learned of the sexual assaults at the teeth whitening salon and identified two other victims, who claimed they were sexually assaulted by Stubberfield in 2013 and 2021.

At Stubberfield’s sentencing hearing, the judge called his behavior “absolutely ruthless predation”according to the statement, adding that it represents a “very high risk of harm” to the public.

Additionally, Detective Inspector Marcus Hodges praised the victims for their strength and bravery. “I sincerely hope that they can find a solution and begin to move forward with their lives after this outcome,” Hodges said.
