Michigan’s police authorities identified Thomas Jacob Sanford, a 40 -year -old veteran from Burton, Michigan, Michigan, like the suspect who killed two people and wounded another eight when He rammed a van against a church in the center of Michigan and opened fire.
One of the eight injured victims is in critical condition, while the other seven are in stable condition, authorities said.
The 40 -year -old man apparently set fire to the building, killing at least two people and hurting several more. The police shot him after a brief persecution, the authorities confirmed.
The police chief, William Renye, told the press that the investigators believe that Sanford burned the building deliberately while videos on social networks showed a huge column of smoke coming out of the church. The fire was finally extinguished.
Thomas Sanford was 40 years old. It was from the neighbor Burton. On Sunday, the authorities recorded the suspect residence before revealing their identity, however, they did not spread details that glimpse the reason for the attack.
Soon knowing what happened, The United States Attorney General PAM Bondi reported that FBI agents moved to the scene.
“Such violence in a place of worship is heartbreaking and chilling. Please, join me in praying for the victims of this terrible tragedy,” he added.
For his part, the president, Donald Trump, said he was following the situation and condemned the attack.
“This seems to be another attack directed against Christians in the United States of America. The Trump administration will keep public opinion informed, as we always do. Meanwhile, they pray for victims and their families. This epidemic of violence in our country must end immediately! ” said.
The authorities explained that hundreds of parishioners were in the Church at the time of the attack.
