After being appointed as border tsar of President Trump, Tom Homan was recorded in September 2024, supposedly, a bag with $ 50,000 in cash in an undercover FBI investigationHowever, the case was closed by officials of the Republican Administration.
According to The Washington Post, two sources close to the case and a document belonging to the research cited by the newspaper, Homan was recorded receiving cash in a meeting in Texas in September 2024.
Then, Homan, who was director of the Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) in Trump’s first mandatehe was not an official and was a candidate to occupy a high position in immigration in the event that the Republican won the presidential ones in November, as finally happened.
Homanly, he accepted the agents’ money, who made them pass by businessmen who offered him the amount in exchange for obtaining contracts related to the hardening of immigration laws, something that Trump had already said that he would do, details the newspaper.
The Washington Post ensures that the Department of Justice initiated an investigation for bribery against homan in the last months of the Joe Biden administration and that the government of his successor closed this year alleging lack of credible evidence and qualifying it as “political research.”
In any case, there are doubts about the possibility that Homin could be processed, since at the time of the alleged bribery he did not occupy any government position.
The investigation, released for the first time by the MSNBC chainarose following an investigation around an entrepreneur linked to border security, who was allegedly referred to the agents to Homin to obtain contracts.
Homan has headed together with the current Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, the crusade against illegal immigration that has marked the return to the power of Donald Trump, which in his eight months of mandate has deported more than 200,000 people, according to government data.
