Five police officers were shot on Wednesday afternoon in a shooting in southern Pennsylvania, Three of them lost their lives, while the shooter supposedly committed suicide. The reasons for aggression are still investigated.
The shooting occurred in the North Codorus area, in York County, where the agents were attacked when they complied with a court order, according to the NBC chain.
The incident occurred shortly after 2 pm near Haar Road block in North Codorus Township, south of York.
The governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, confirmed that “three public order agents died in an act of service in York County. Two other agents received shots and are in critical but stable, receiving treatment at the Wellspan Hospital in York, where I visited their families today ”—
“These agents represent the best of us. They risk their lives to serve their community, their Commonwealth and their country,” he continued.
“There are simply no words that I can offer to relieve the pain that this community has experienced,” said the commissioner of the State Police of Pennsylvania, Colonel Christopher Paris.
The Vice Governor of Pennsylvania, Austin Davis, asked in social networks that “pray for the officers and the people involved in the shooting in York County” and urged the population to follow the instructions of the authorities.
Agents of the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) went to the shooting scene to help with the investigation, the agency said in an X publication.
The attorney general, Pam Bondi, declared on social networks that the FBI and ATF are in place to support local order forces. “Violence against forces of order is a scourge for our society and is never acceptable. We pray for the agents involved,” he wrote in the publication.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Department of National Security, Kristi Noem, confirmed that her department is also monitoring the situation and “working with inter -institutional partners.”
