Marine member in Mexico is committed to being involved in fuel smuggling



The scandal shook one of the most important institutions in Mexico, after the arrest of 14 people related in fuel smugglingamong them the vice council Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna, political nephew of the former Secretary of the Navy, Rafael Ojeda Durán, and now with the apparent suicide of the ship’s captain and head of the Port Protection Unit of Altamira, Abraham Jeremías Pérez Ramírez.

According to authorities in Mexico, Pérez Ramírez was found dead in his offices during September 8 after this man was mentioned by the former director of Customs of Tampico for alleged bribes in a network of fraud or fiscal huachicol.

According to the dependency information, Captain Abraham Jeremías Pérez Ramírez, head of the Altamira Port Protection Unit, was found lifeless within the port and according to Fuentes the case was confirmed as suicide.

“The Secretariat of the Marina-Armada of Mexico deeply laments the sensitive death of one of its elements, in the state of TamaulipaS ”, published the agency in a message on social network X.

“The institution extends its deepest condolences and solidarity to their family, friends and colleagues, reiterating that all the necessary support and those that correspond by law will be provided. It also reiterates the collaboration with the competent authorities for the full clarification of the facts,” he added.

Without an arrest warrant that weigh against him, It transpired that Pérez Ramírez was in the investigation that involves high controls, including vice council Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna.

Even the head of the Ministry of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC) of Mexico, Omar García Harfuch, informed that the arrest warrants against three entrepreneurs, five navigats in active, one in retirement and five former customs officials were executed.

In addition, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, promised “zero impunity” in the case for 14 people involved in fuel smuggling, after the confiscation last March of 10 million liters in the state of Tamaulipas.

“What is very important is the commitment of zero impunity. When a situation is found that is evident, a network of corruption and illicit, what must be done is zero impunity and stop all those who are involved,” said the president.

Last March, Mexican authorities secured 10 million liters of hydrocarbon insured in the same Mexican state of Tamaulipas, in the northeast of Mexico. Then, at the end of July, 1.8 million liters of illegal hydrocarbon and a property also in Tamaulipas were seized.
