The homicide took place a week after the shooting in which New York Jets defenseman Kris Boyd was injuredoutside the Sei Less restaurant, also in Midtown Manhattan.
Boyd, 29, was shot around 2 a.m. on Nov. 16, following a dispute between his group and another inside the restaurant. The player remains hospitalized with a bullet lodged in a lung, according to police sources. Jets coach Aaron Glenn said he had spoken with him and expressed confidence in his recovery.
Although the two shootings occurred in the same area of Manhattan, authorities say they are not related. In Boyd’s case, detectives have already identified a possible suspect, while this Sunday’s attacker continues without being located.
